How Often Should You Change Your Car’s Engine Oil?

The frequency of engine oil changes depends not only on the age of the vehicle but also on its operating conditions. Sometimes, the nature of the vehicle requires stricter maintenance, especially if it is over 10 years old or used in heavy-duty conditions.

Cars older than 10 years usually require more frequent oil changes, typically every 7,000 to 15,000 km. For newer cars, frequent oil changes are generally not necessary. Even without changing the lubricant, they can often go up to 30,000 km without any issues.

However, this applies to vehicles operating under normal driving conditions. If the conditions are different—such as extremely high or low temperatures, or heavy usage like taxis, ambulances, or police cars—a more individualized approach is needed.

In any case, an oil change at least once a year is recommended.
