Is Synthetic Oil Always Better?

When choosing engine oil, it is important to carefully study the properties and applications of each type and assess their suitability for your vehicle.

It is important to note that the choice of engine oil plays a key role in the engine's longevity and, consequently, the smooth operation of the vehicle.

Synthetic, semi-synthetic, and mineral oils have different characteristics that must be considered when selecting the appropriate oil.

Synthetic engine oils are created in laboratory conditions through chemical synthesis, which gives them high thermal stability, reduces deposit formation, and helps maintain their properties for a longer period during use.

Therefore, this type of oil is most commonly used in modern, high-performance engines.

However, it is also necessary to consider that synthetic oil is not always the best choice by itself. It is more important to pay attention to the oil’s viscosity, performance specifications, and the exact intervals for oil changes.

As for mineral engine oils, they are produced naturally through the refining of crude oil. These oils are generally more affordable and suitable for older or simpler engine designs. Compared to synthetic oils, mineral oils require more frequent replacement and may lose their properties under high-temperature conditions.
